Cult of MBA

Ojas Apartment, Ahmedabad

I noticed a big different in the thinking of individuals of my age after spending three years in United Kingdom. MBA is the most talked subject these days with everyone wishing to do a MBA in India without gaining any relevant work experience. People are switching their interest as if they just did their undergraduate for the sake of it. I know individuals who are studying Bcom, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Arts and Phycology who are running behind B schools in India, straight after graduation or have either started preparing for the entrance exams in the penultimate year of their under graduation. I am still not clear why there is such a interest in MBA. Is it because of the job prospects or is it because they don't want to pursue their degree ahead and MBA shelters people from all walks of life ?

To be very honest, I am no different. I envisage to be studying in London business school in 3 years time.

I seriously want to conduct this study, it could be in a form of survey or even word of mouth to understand this cult.

There are forums, student groups, coaching centres, website pooping up in every little corner of India with regards to entrance exams for MBA degree.

What do you think ?

Weekend Rush !

Galaxy Hotel, Rajkot

What a weekend to recharge my batteries and get back to work. This weekend was truly amazing and one that I will remember for a very long time. I spend my last weekend in Mumbai and like any other metro city, Mumbai had its pro and cons which I will not be mentioning since I am not writing a travel blog.

Mumbai truly feels like our financial capital with the local trains gushing out people.

However what makes a place special is the company and I was lucky to be with one of my dearest friend, Ankit Modi. One thing which was very evident was that the person in an alto looks at Honda city, the person in Honda city works for a BMW and a person in BMW envisions rolls royce. So where does it ends or does it ever ends? Do we spend our lives chasing cars and fame or do we spend out lives doing what we love. To be very honest I am currently following the former and I am quite clear that this path is hard, dissatisfying and stressful.

There is nothing wrong but having realised it early is in itself a learning experience and I believe through my extensive travel, network, friends, family, work and blog will identify my passion sooner or later. The earlier the better and I shall not rest until the task is complete.

All is all; single out your love in life.

Education

Ojas Apartment, Ahmedabad

Education can never be valued, it is an assert which can be worth millions of dollars. I am currently preparing for the Common Admission Test, which is the entrance exam for most Business school in India. Currently in world, it is considered to be the toughest exam with 5,00,000 applicants battling it out for a few seats. The test is open to all students from any bachelor degree and therefore includes questions based on mathematics, english and logic. However I aspire to study at LBS. Having lived in the closed vicinity of London Business School (LBS), LBS has been my only motivation to get into work quickly and gain the relevant work experience.

With its MBA programme ranked number 1 by Financial times, its surely a herculean task to be step through those doors. However life is much more than goals and targets and I plan to complete this journey smartly.

The video below is a small ad of LBS, which I have seen over 100 times.

Dont let your learning curve drop !

What do we want from Technology

Ojas Apartment, Ahmedabad

As someone has rightly said, the solution to one problem creates another problem. Technology is advancing at a pace like never before. Technology companies are coming up with innovative solutions and making gadgets much smarter than ever before. But are these gadgets really making our life simple or do we keeping updating our softwares.

Being a technology geek I follow three tech blogs daily; crackberry.comcultofmac.com and techcrunch.com

In the video below, IBM unveils its fifth annual "Next Five in Five" -- a list of innovations with the potential to change the way people work, live and play over the next five years. The Next Five in Five is based on market and societal trends expected to transform our lives, as well as emerging technologies from IBM's Labs around the world that can make these innovations possible.

Time

Ojas Apartment, Ahmedabad

Time is a conversation in itself. Some people have a lot of time whereas some say they have no time. However the fact remains the time is same for all, we all have 24 hours in a day and god does not favours anyone in this matter. In spite of that, every single day I hear people complain about time. There are successful people out there who manage multi nationals and still find time for their health, family, friends, etc. I guess it all comes own to time management and priorities.
Last 9 years have passed really fast which could be attributed to my friends and family for being there for me. Scindia was a great experience, followed with University of Westminster and now new role at work. All in all, as people say life is busy but good.
Be focused

Video: Great ad from Tmobile about its 4g network targeted against AT&T network in USA. Speaking of which, I am still waiting for vodafone, to bring 3g network to my phone and USA is advertising its 4g network. How behind are we ?

Heights of Carelessness

Ojas Apartment, Ahmedabad

Carelessness is lack of concern about the consequences of an action, and by extension, the behaviour that results from that lack of concern. Carelessness has been hypothesised to be one possible cause of accident-proneness. These days I consider myself really careless, maybe this can be attributed to multiple things I am carrying out or just that I can't be bothered until I found out I have lost it.
One of my friends wrote to me after I lost of car key today " the only thing valuable to me are the people I love. When you start losing them, that's when you you know you are in trouble. So try and go to sleep peacefully tonight, You are a good man. God won't take you car away. Good night." Maybe she is right, maybe life is much more than losing keys and pity little things when compared to losing friends, family and loved ones. Currently many of us, move on with life and forget the people with whom we have spent some of the most memorable moments.
Pause for a second, close your eyes and recall the person who was most prominent in your life 5 years ago and is not around. Why not take this opportunity to call him/her up to say hello.
Good Night
